Vanessa Bartlett

Vanessa Bartlett is a researcher and curator working between Australia and the UK. She is in the process of completing a PhD at UNSW Art & Design, where her research investigates connections between digital technologies and psychological distress through reflective curatorial practice. Bartlett's recent curatorial project Group Therapy: Mental Distress in a Digital Age was co-curated with Mike Stubbs for FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) Liverpool, UK in 2015. This exhibition was visited by over 13,000 people and received coverage in international media outlets such as the BBC World Service. A second iteration of Group Therapy is currently under development for UNSW Galleries, Sydney. Vanessa’s recent academic writing has been published by Bloomsbury Methuen, Taylor & Francis and in the proceedings of ISEA: International Symposium on Electronic Art in 2015 and 2017. Bartlett has given talks and lectures at prestigious UK venues including Tate, Arnolfini, The V&A and The Science Museum. She has edited two academic books for Liverpool University Press.

Julie Hollenbach

Julie Hollenbach is an artist, writer, curator, and educator based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia (Canada). Her cultural work employs a queer feminist methodology. Emilie Reed

Emily Reed is an emerging curator, art historian and writer from the United States but currently based in Scotland. Her primary interest is investigating how art institutions are displaying and contextualizing videogame-based works, as well as developing exhibitions that expand perspectives beyond the well-trodden commercial timeline of the form. However, Reed also has experience with researching and discussing conceptual art, internet art, fluxus and performance.

Melanie Wilmink

Melanie Wilmink is a PhD candidate in Art History and Visual Culture at York University (On, Canada), with honours such as the 2014 York University Elia Scholars Award, and a 2015 SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship. She completed her MA in Interdisciplinary Visual Arts at the University of Regina (SK, Canada) in 2014, and her BFA in Visual Arts at the University of Calgary (AB, Canada) in 2007. Her dissertation examines the inter-connectivity between spectatorial experience and exhibition spaces, and aims to determine how public art situations act as vehicles for metaphoric and physical transportation. Her ongoing research was developed through her experience as Programming Coordinator for the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers and its $100 Film Festival (an avant-garde Super 8 and 16mm event established in 1992), as well as her independent curating practice.

Project Description: I have curated several public media installations including The Situated Cinema project (Pleasure Dome, 2015), and Urbanity on Film (Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers, 2009). I co-edited the anthology Sculpting Cinema (2018), and produce academic writing around expanded cinema, and media installation art. In both of these practices, I am interested in how art creates space for conversation with viewers, and I particularly want to take art out of the usual exhibition venues into unique sites that engage non-traditional audiences. I would love to collaborate with science and business partners, who value art as a different way of thinking through the problems of their fields.


Jenny Goldstick

Jenny Goldstick is a Brooklyn-based artist, designer, and educator. She is the creator of the acclaimed interactive graphic memoir, This is My Memory of First Heartbreak, Which I Can’t Quite Piece Back Together. In addition to creating information graphics for a wide variety of clients, including Penguin Books, the NYC Mayor’s office, and the Environmental Defense Fund, she is an MFA instructor at School of Visual Arts. In her spare time, Jenny is a hackathon enthusiast with an affinity for interdisciplinary collaboration.

Linda Campbell

(Dr.) Linda Campbell is a professor who holds a Senior Research Fellow at Saint Mary's University in Halifax. Linda is particularly interested in aquatic ecosystems and water resources. Right now, Linda and her research group are studying how pollution can move through ecosystems and accumulate in different types of animals and plants. In Nova Scotia, Linda has three exciting projects on the go: (1) how non-native fish and snail species impact freshwater lakes; (2) the pattern of mercury contamination in flying bats across eastern Canada; and (3) impacts of legacy gold mine tailings from 100 years ago on modern freshwater ecosystems.
